So Adepticon is a little over 2 weeks away. We have 12 participants in the Schaumburg Prime Offensive in its inagural year at Adepticon. There are 4 more spots open if anyone wants to register at the convention itself. It is going to be a fun event. At present we are preparing the objects involved with the contracts. I, personally, am preparing for the trip. I have also put in events for Halo Fleet Battles and Halo Ground command. These events also have open spots still. The old Spartan Games Halo games are still alive and strong. Coday Nance and Doug Ummel are keeping the faith. I am also proud to announce we have some swag coming directly from Studio 343 for the Halo events.

I just wanted to check in and give a little update. I am really looking forward to adepticon and I plan on playing lots of pick up games for Infinity, Horus Heresy, Team Yankee and Godtear. With the exception of INfinity I have yet to get games in for any of these games. I have a back log and of course my game group has had game A.D.D. for a while now. It will be nice to hang out in an atmosphere that fosters pure gaming. I always feel invigorated during and after Adepticon. I am pretty excited. I have 8 days of work between me and adepticon. I am getting things set for the A Billion Suns tournament. I have a bunch of 3D printing to do.

Well thats all for now. See You at Adepticon!

Iron Within, Iron Without!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-11435624917748414782023-01-15T11:48:00.000-05:002023-01-15T11:48:04.054-05:00The Schaumburg Prime Offensive Returns! SeerK here once again to talk Adepticon! We see the return of The Schaumburg Prime Offensive to Adepticon. This time around though, A Billion Suns takes the place of Firestorm Armada. We have a 3 round event Friday March 24th at Adepticon. At the time of me writing this we still have spots open. Today I am going to be posting the missions and going over the model policy. A billion Suns is a model agnostic game, but we still need a few guidlines to make sure everyone is on the same page and to make sure we all have a good time. Lets take a look at things!

The tournament is 3 rounds. Each round is two and a half hours. Since we are using the Warzone expansion, each round has two contracts that have been predertimined and can be found at this Google Drive Link. The contract objects, stattions and such, will be set up ahead of time by the Organizers.

We do have some guidelines for models. Please Reference the Games designers notes as to base size and releative size of model that is appropriate at this link. We also want to say that we prefer square bases followed by round bases. They must have the fireing arcs clearly marked and each ship must be labled as to what type it is. Since we are going to have a lot of variation of models we want everthing to be clear to players. We will be following the Adepticon model code with the exception of "Official Models". 3D printing is heavily encouraged! Lots of good models and pre labled bases can be found on Cults 3D and My Mini Factory.

Well thats all for now! stay tuned for more news and information!

SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-59213646550170877442022-12-31T09:35:00.003-05:002022-12-31T09:35:31.083-05:00Goodbye 2022

Greetings all. Its been quite a while. Life and a lack of motivation has kept me from writing. 2022 has been quite a year. I have started to play a few different games and a couple have gone by the wayside. I am getting my gaming mojo back. I have been hobbying a lot more and I have even started painting again. The burnout I experienced doing stuff for Spartan Games and the pandemic had lasting effects that are finally going away. I picked up A billion Suns to satisfy my need for spaceships and I have started playing 30k since the release of the new edition. In fact we are running A Billion Suns tournament at Adeption this coming March. I just wanted to pop in and say that I am going to make an effort to write even if nobody is reading it. Just to talk about the hobby and games to kinda work things out for myself.

Happy New Year. may the coming year be good. Adepticon 2022 has come and gone and a lot has happened. First and foremost, my bipolar ass has felt reinvigorated. Being immersed in gaming for a week has helped things immensly. I helped judge the Infinity GT at the convention and my love of Infinity has been rekindled, especially since I actually got to play. N4 is more streamlined and it plays great. I picked up a couple new games as the group also picked them up. Godtear and Team Yankee are on the menu. I may not play them often, but they are now in the mix with 40K and A Billion Suns. The group may have some gamer A.D.D., but I am pretty focused on Infinity now.

That said I am proud to announce that Mitten Mayhem is going to be coming back for its second year. The pandemic put it on hold before it could get established, but the pandemic is not killing it. We are back and now we are affiliated with Michigans Premier wargaming convention. The MIchigan GT

The Michigan GT Has been arounf for many years now. It started and a Warhammer 40K GT and has now expanded into many game systems and a bonified convention while still keeping true to its roots. I will be running Mitten Mayhem at the convention to bring Infinity back into the fold. It will be a five round two day event, running Saturday and Sunday. Set up is Friday, so we will have open play and some hanging out. A social event is planned for Saturday night for the participants and anybody who wants to hang out. I expect it to be a great time and community building event.

It was great to return to Adepticon. I was able to reconnect with my friends who I am generally only able to see at conventions and to immerse myself in gaming in general. I was worried it would be scaled back from the normal, but it did not seem like it was. There were a ton of vendors and the list of events was long. As I stated earlier, I picked up a couple games to try out. I also picked up the latest Infinity releases. Despite the fact the vendors did not receive shipments, I still purchased things. Warsenal was shorted a pallet of new releases, but once they received it they shipped the product out quickly. I cannot speak highly enough about Warsenal and their customer service. I received my shorted product quiclkly once they received it.

I was happy to return to Adepticon finally. The past two years without it were crappy. The return was triumphant and has rekindled my gaming bug. In the coming weeks I will be talking about Infinity, my return to 40K and the other games I am diving into. I will also be giving updates about Mitten Mayhem and the Michigan GT

until next time.....

REMEMBER DRAMOS!!!!

and

Blood Runs, Death Wakes, WAR CALLS!!!!!!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-32140868562334717502022-03-13T16:43:00.004-04:002022-03-13T16:43:42.490-04:00Adepticon 2022

Hello all. Its been a while. I have been absent and for that I apoligize. Hell I don't know if anybody still reads the blog. Well after some thought I decided I am going to post at least once a month. My gaming life has not been what it use to be. I am hoping this changes next week and I feel a little of the passion come back. I speak of Adepticon. After two years on hiatus, the convention has returned. I am participating in two events this year and I am helping to judge the Infinity GT. I am brushing up on Infinity as I have not played the new edition. I have only read the rules. I plan on helping out none the less. The gaming group here in Lansing has been experimenting with a bunch of different games and it has made us lose our focus on any one game. It's kind of frustrating honestly. Its gotten to the point I am thinking about dipping back into 40K. I know, thats kinda a point I thought I would never reach. We will see what happens. I am going to try and do at least one post at Adepticon and might do a YouTube video on the channel I have not used in years. If you are reading this I appreciate it. I am going to get the passion back. Life and past circumstances have left me burned out and honestly longing for days past. Well thats all for now. If you are reading this and are going to Adepticon, say hi if you see me. until next time.....

Remember Dramos!

and

Blood runs, anger rises, death wakes, war calls !!!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-30773804386698384572021-04-03T18:04:00.000-04:002021-04-03T18:04:22.019-04:00Dystopian Wars 3.0 Unboxing

Greetings all! SeerK here once again. Today we are going to be talking about the new edition of Dystopian Wars. I recently picked up the 2 player starter set called the Hunt For Prometheus. This box contains 2 fleets. A Commonwealth fleet and an Enlightened fleet. For the old school Dystopian Wars players this would be a Russian and Covenant of Antartica fleets. As some of you may know I am a Prussian Player, or as they are now known, the Imperium. I do like the Enlightened though. that was my second fleet when I was first into Dystopian wars 2.0. This will be an unboxing post, which I generally do not do, but I am still reading the rules and have yet to get a game in to comment on the rules. From what I have read so far, the rules seem pretty solid and are more streamlined than the 2.0 rules. Lets dive into the box and see whats what.

When I picked the box up from our FLGS in Lansing, Evolution Games, I noticed it was pretty heavy. This is always a good sign in my mind. Once I got it home and opened up I was greeted with a multitude of Sprues and gaming aides. There are 2 decent sized fleets in the box. Warcradle is also releasing fleet boxes to bolster the fleets you get in the box. These boxes give you more cruisers and small ships. I digress though. The starter box contains everything you will need to play the game. We have a sprue of templates, which includes the area effect templete, turning template and measring template. The rulebook is a full rulebook. It has the complete rules as well as a ton of background information about the factions. This I feel was important as there was some modification to the background of Dystopian Wars and having a complete reference gets you deep into the setting. Some faction names have been changed slightly and things seem to have been aligned with Wild West Exodus. This makes sense. Warcradle obviously wants to have their games align in some way. I don't view this as a bad thing as it expands the amount of factions that are available in the future for both games.

For the Enlightend you get

1x Decartes Control ship

1x Hypatia Generator Ship

3x Copernicus Heavy Cruisers

9x Merian Drone Frigates

For the Commonwealth you get

1x Borodino Battleship

5x Kutsov Cruisers

10x Rurik Frigates

You also get a bunch of action dice and critical dice as well as 2 Victory and Valour card decks. The ships are all plastic with the exception of the Battleship sized vessels. The Battleships are all resin. They are of good quality and have a bunch of detail. The box does not come with assembly instructions which is one of my only complaints. The instructions are available online, but it would have been nice to have printed instructions in the box so you could tear right into the models. Not a big deal.

The Campaign guide that comes with the box is a nice set of missions that follow a pretty nice narrative. It is a series of missions intended to get you familiar with the rules and explore the units contained in the box. The missions are pretty basic, but they get the job done in terms of teaching you the game. There are 4 missions. All in all pretty solid. A narative collection of missions is always a good thing especially when they step up the rules used. It is a definate aide for new players.

As I mentioned above the battleship sized vessels in the box are resin models. The rest of them are plastics, which is a new thing for Dystopian Wars. Being a Firestorm Armada fan I see this as a preview of what is to come. The models are multi part, not a solid plastic. Assembly is required, but it is not to daunting. The online assembly guide is very helpful. The real advantage to the plastics and the fact the turrents on the resin modles are plastic gives you the ability to customize the models. That is, its easy to magnitize the turrets. Several sizes of magnets will work with the larger models.

There are a large collection of tokens as well as card terrain for your games. The terrain is basic, but it gets you started. The terrain rules are pretty well done and they give a lot of depth to the game. At least it looks that way. As I said I need to get some games in. This means convincing some of the local group to learn the rules as well. All in all the starter box is nice. It was worth the $115 investment. Obviously the price may vary a bit depending on where you buy your box. I always advocate buying from your local game store rather than online, even if it takes a bit longer to get the product. Our local game stores are the Backbone of the community. For our gaming products and for space to play said games and build a community. I have been playing Battletech as of late, mostly because its easy to set up games with myself and another person. I have been playing through the new Tukkayyid campaign with my buddy Schoop and we are going to be playing a deciding game soon. George and I recently played a rather long and very exciting game that was using a modified version of the Trial of Possession scenario in the new Clan Invasion boxed set. We chose our own forces rather than the ones presented in the booklet and the battle in this instance was between Georges Clan Diamond Shark and my Kappa Galaxy Clan Jade Falcon forces. This was no mere battle for a ficticious technology or planet. This game was for possession of a galss Storm Trooper decanter that was up for grabs due to a friends spring cleaning. I will get into the game a little bit, but I wanted to talk about the 2 stars of the show, at least on my side. In fact I am going to concentrate on one particular mech that I have used in 3 games now and it has performed excellently every time. The Ryokan or as it is known in the Clans, the Stormcrow.

The Game was great if not long. George brought a striker / scout lance. The heaviest mech in his group was a Summonor aka a Thor. It was accompanied by a puma, and Ice Ferret and 2 Locust 2C's. Which in Georges opinion is the meanest 25 tons you can buy in the clan arsenal. I have to attest to the Clan Locust's lethality. It is very fast and packs an array of small lasers that can chew through armor very quickly, especially if they are doing a coordinated attack. I went a little heavier with my star.

I had 2 Storm Crows, a Timber Wolf and a Dire Wolf. I was a mech down, but I made up for it with tonnage. I know, it sounds a little one sided. I went as heavy as possible and George went for mobility. The game lasted about 5 hours though and it was not one sided. By the end I was down to a basically untouched Dire Wolf and he was down to 3 very worked over mechs. He used his mobility and the terrain very well and managed to disable 3 of my mechs. The exchange was even though. Well maybe not quite even. I managed to have an untouched Assault Mech as my remaining unit. The real stars though were the Storm Crows. I won the match due to how resilant and upgunned these 55 ton mechs are.

I ran A Storm Crow Prime and a Storm Crow B. For those not completly famliar with Battletech, the Clans are a technologically superior force made up of remnants of the old Star League army. They left basically because of all the arguing and chaos in the Inner Sphere after the Fall of the Star League due to a coup. The great houses that made up the Star League argued who would be in charge once the coup by Stephen Amaris was fianlly ended. Ultimatly they broke apart and warred with each other. General Alexander Kerensky, sick of all the crap went into exile with a bulk of the Star League army and fleet. They went out into deep space and eventually formed a new society. The Clans were born. Each its own faction with its own leaders and armies. It is a warrior culture and eventually became a culture that genetically engineered its warriors. Their Battle mechs are very advanced compared to their contemporary Inner Sphere counterparts. They use what is know and Omnimechs. That is Mechs that can easily be reconfigured. Everything is modular. Thus the different Varients.

As I said I used the Prime configuration and configuration B in this particular game. The Prime configuration for a Storm Crow is energy based. All of its weapons are lasers. No ammo to worry about. Two Extended Range Large Lasers and three Extended Range Medium Lasers are its weaponry. Heat is not an issue with the Prime. Twenty two double heat sinks means you can fire all your wepaons, move and not generate any heat. It boasts a decent amount of armor as well. It has decent speed, but lacks jump jets. The B configuration has an Ultra Autocannon 20 as its main armament with 6 Extended Range Medium Lasers as back up. You have to watch your heat generation though as it only has 13 double heat sinks. The autocannon doesn't have a lot of ammo, but I don't see this as a problem given its back up weapons. The B packs a major punch. My two Storm Crows did all the heavy lifting in my game with George. They were able to severly cripple or destroy what they targeted. My prime was able to deal with both of the Locusts before is was eliminated and the B was able to inflict massive damage on the other 3 mechs with is autocannon. The Timber wolf supported them both, but was done in by mechs who could move faster and get into optimal fireing position with ease.

The Storm Crow has 9 different configurations. I am not going to talk about all of them though. Each configuration has a different battlefield role. I could have an entire Star of these mechs and have close range, medium range and long range all covered. There are 2 different missle boat configs, a couple heavy hitters like the B, but having some newer tech. There are a couple oddballs, but nothing that I can say is really weak if you use it in its proper role. I love the Storm Crow. It's my favorite medium clan mech.

The only real downside to the mech is that is lacks jump capability. Its not a major flaw and I think adding jump jets would give it an over the top advantage given its weapon loadouts. The again you would be sacrificing weapons, armor or heat sinks to get said jump jets. Still my favorite Clan Medium Mech.

Well thats all for now. I have my Dystopian Wars Gubins box, which has the final rules book version in it, on predorder as well as the new Prussian fleet. Its called the Imperium now, but they will always be the Prussians. We are talking about it on the latest episode of Exploding Dice Radio which we recorded last night. It should be up in a few days. There has been no movement on the FSA beta so nothing to talk about there. I sadly have not gotten any games in of the latest version. That will hopefully change soon.

Until next time...

REMEMBER DRAMOS!!!!!!!!!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-18546097168054962742021-02-06T17:06:00.001-05:002021-02-06T17:06:37.618-05:00Curve Balls

Hi all. Well things went off the rails quick, at least in regard to the blog. We are still recording the podcast though so thats good. I started a new job in October and it has me beat when I get home every day. The big downer that has kept me from writing is the loss of my father. He passed away from complications due to covid a few days after I started my new job. Things have been pretty rough after that. 2020 kept throwing curve balls at us. Shortly after Dad passed away my wife and I had a covid scare after being exposed at a restaurant. I know what you are saying. It was dumb to go out. It was and we are not anymore despite things opening back up here in Michigan. I go to work, come home exhausted and basically thats it. I have been able to get a few games of Battletech in though with my best friend Schoop. We are playing the Tukayyid campaign. The new year came and we had some hope things would be better. Things are still not optimal, but I think things are starting to perhaps turn around.

I have a few things on my plate in regards to gaming. Battletech, as I mentioned before, has been primarily the game I have been able to play as of late. The new Dystopian Wars rules and Starter set have been released by Warcradle. I plan on picking up some Dystopian Wars stuff in the near future. I am eagerly awaiting the new Prussians. If Warcradle does what they did for Wild West Exodus I should be able to pick up the rules and such seperatly along with Prussian fleet stuff when it pops up. Nobody really plays around me, but I do like a good Naval game. The FSA beta has been kind of back burner for me as I have had nobody to play with. The main group has been communicating via texting or Dischord and we have not been getting together.

I have been facinated with Drop Fleet Commander as well. I really like the models and the concept of the game intrigues me. I plan on picking up either the starter set or a couple fleets and the rule book if I can find it seperatly. I have lots of interest in stuff right now and the means to purchase it, but I don't have people to play with at the moment really. It is a weird state of affairs.

Well thats all for now. I felt an update was needed. I plan on doing some entries related to Battletech in the near future. Particularly about Alpha Strike. George is gung ho about it and I just picked up the Commanders edition rule book. Its a new twist on Battletech. You are freed from the hexmap and can play the game like a regular tabletop war game. You don't use the big record sheets. The stats are reduced to a card and it allows you to do bigger battles. I am eager to try it out and see how it plays compared to regular Battletech. I am so use to a hexmap it will be an interesting transition.

until next time.....

Remember Dramos
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-10856015223908359302020-09-25T12:54:00.003-04:002020-09-25T14:05:26.972-04:00Firestorm Armada 3.0 Beta is Here!

Greetings all! After long last the Firestorm Armada Beta test is here. It began on the 9th of September and has already been revised a couple times after a slew of player feedback. I am not going to go real in depth into the rules as they are changing week to week, but I thought I would talk about some of the new mechanisms that make up the game. I would have gotten into things sooner than the end of the month, but I wanted to play some games and see some games played. I also wanted to chat with the group about the new version. Lets dive in

The first thing I have to say is that this version of FSA is very different than 2.0. Gone are hull points, DR and CR. What we have instead is a damage system that I have honestly not seen before. It is rather unique and in the michigan groups opinion needs some refienment. I know refinement will happen as we are very early in the beta, but I wanted to state the position currently held by members of the Michigan crew. If you have not been playing the beta I will do a quick run down of the way damage works.

Your weapon systems still have pools of dice that you roll to hit your target. The target number or TN to score a hit on the target is dependent on its Shields value. So if a battleship has a shield value of 4 you need a 4 or better to score a hit. Once you have determined the number of hits, you have to look at the armor value of the target. For each mulitple of the armor value you score a system damage, or get a system damage die. So if you have an armor value of 4 on a target and you score 12 hits you score 3 system damage, or rather get to roll 3 system damage dice. Once you roll the dice you look to see if any of the numbers match up. whatever the majority number is, is the type of system damage that is done. After repairs in the last phase of the game are complete, if you have a number of system damage types that exceeds the mass value of the ship, then that ship is destroyed. So if you have a mass 3 ship and it has 4 drive leak system damage results then it is removed from play.

Now at first glance this appears to be a little more complicated than the old system. It kinda is, but it seems to flow ok once you start playing more. The real difference with this system is that you can attempt to repair the damage at the end of the turn. This is a major change from 2.0. Once you hit the hull point limit that ship was gone right then and there.

Weapons have changed quite a bit. Firstly you have 6 arcs thanks to the new hex bases. Kinetic weapons, even after a couple tweaks are pretty deadly as they bypass shields and their to hit number is based on range to target. They can however be intercepted by point defense. The real killer though was they initially bypassed armor too so every hit was bascially a system damage. In version 3, weapons really do not have a range limit. Although weapons of the kinetic type have their to hit number go higher the farther a target is away they technically have no range limit. The only way a weapon has a range limit is if it has the Effective rule. Many of the special weapon types allow you to manipulate system damage die results.

Movement is pretty different in the new version as well. Ships are on hex bases as I previously stated. There is constatnt momentum as well. That means you must move a certain distance every time you move. That is you must move your current speed, which can be changed by using thrust. Every ship has a thurst value. You can modify your speed up to your thrust value. Constant motion or momentum is not a new concept in space based ship games. Ships have a turn limit, but in this version it is the number of turns you can make in a single movement. so if you have turn limit 5 you can make up to 5 turns along your movement path. The angle is smaller than 45 degrees as it was in 2.0 but the turning template is similar. It looks like an arch. There are some special movement rules that can come into play, but they have changed a bit between versions, so I am not going to talk about them quit yet.

Honestly you really need to read the beta rules. There is so much I could talk about. The one thing I wanted to talk about is how it compares, so far, to 2.0. This is a very different game. The names of the races are there and the name Firestorm Armada is on it, but it does not feel like old FSA as of yet. In fact it may never feel like the old game. I am ok with that. I know its early and I am giving it its fair shake, but you need to go into this with no preconceived notions. This is not 2.0 by any stretch. I have played a lot of games in my time and I have played games where an edition jump turned a game into somehting that was completly different. That is they built a system from the ground up and completly threw away the past edition rather than building on it. Right now thats what it feels like with FSA and that is ok. Sometimes you need a fresh start. I know a couple of the guys are turned off by the game after playing a couple times. It wasn't becasue of the things they are tweaking and refining either. It is becasue they are not having fun. They think the new core mechanisms take away from the game being fun. We are going to let the game get revised a couple more times and try again with them, but it worries me they may not be the only ones who feel the same way. Like I said you need to go into it with an open mind and no preconceived notions.

Like I said I am giving everything a chance and I am going to go on the journey to whereever the beta takes us. I love Firestorm Armada. I would have not been so involved in the Spartan days if I didn't. I want to rekindle that love again and I am hoping the new edition does that. All we have is rules right now, but I think things might pick up and excitement will be increased once we actually see some renders of models or models themselves. Afterall this is a miniatures game and we all want new shiney models.

Well that is all for now. I didn't want to nit pick stuff here. I have been doing that on the Facebook group. Next time I am probably going to be talking about the new edition of Infinity. N4 is out in PDF and the books are shipping. I have to wait for my book, as I cannot get the PDF to load on my tablet or cooperate when it does decide to load. Corvus Belli really needs to learn how to make an ebook or PDF that doesn't have to re render every time you go to the next page.

see you next time! as always

REMEMBER DRAMOS!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-74994892695268306762020-08-07T13:56:00.001-04:002020-08-07T13:56:48.968-04:00And We Are back!

Well it has been almost a year since I have done anything with the blog. I don't even know if its on Anybody's radar anymore. I am back though after this long hiatus. I am not going to make any promises but I am going to try and post every couple weeks to keep people in the loop about stuff and talk about gaming. I am into a few different games now so I should have a decent amount of stuff to talk about.

The big news is that Ruckdog and I are going to be starting up our old podcast Exploding Dice Radio. With the aquisition of all the Spartan properties by Warcradle Studios and Wayland Games, we have our favorite ship and space ship games coming back with new editions and new models. Dystopian Wars has been in beta for a while due to the Pandemic and Firestorm Armada has been on the back burner for beta testing also due to the pandemic. Ruckdog and I will be chatting about all things Dystopian and FSA as they develop and as the games reach their final stages. I know I am eagerly waiting for the new Firestorm Armada. So what else is new?

I have been dealing with a lot of personal stuff really. I found myself lacking the passion I once did for things. This meant gaming in a big way. Its has taken a while, but I am rekindling the love of gaming and I have branched out a bit. I am still doing Infinity. N4 is due out this month so I am looking forward to that. I am hoping a new edition cleans up some of the issues with the game. I have aquired some Germans to play Bolt Action once the gaming area of the FLGS opens back up. I don't see that happening for a while, but it will happen eventually.

I did manage to get a game of Battletech in with a friend. We have been next to zero contact with the outside world, so we were confident nobody would get the rona. Masks were a thing. This one game has sparked a fire for Battletech. It was the game that got me into miniature war games. That game combined with Tex Talks Battletech on YouTube, really they are great check them out, Is getting me passoinate again. I will be getting a bunch of Battletech stuff in the near future. I honestly do not know what happened to all the stuff I use to have.

I have been slowly getting back to painting as well. It has been rough getting in the mood to paint though. I did paint up a model of the Hulk recently for the Game Marvel Crisis Protocal. It turned out decent. I need to get some good pictures of it.

Well thats all for now. Stay tuned for more!

as always

REMEMBER DRAMOS!!!!!!
SeerKarandrashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05864552771430102654noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6096783199273382184.post-82366202871727817062019-08-20T22:25:00.000-04:002019-08-20T22:25:02.437-04:00Midwest Massacre at Dragon Fall

Hi all. Once again I am lax in posting. I was all excited for the Iowa Incident Mark 6 when last I posted. Well there is not going to be an Iowa Incident this year. Will Thompson, the main man for Iowa, had to go and have a baby. Well his wife did. Congrats to Will and his wife on the new baby though. In lew of Iowa, we have decided to attend the Midwest Massacre at Dragon Fall this year. Scott Tipsword is at the helm, a swell guy, and the tournament is shaping up to be a good one. For those of you unfamiliar with the Midwest Massacre it is a team tournament. This year it is a 3 man team. Team Strongman Commando Friends will be storming the gates as it were. Our showing at Adepticon was a bit lack luster, but we are heading in with a different plan and a new member. So lets go over the format a little bit.

Each team is made up of 3 people, as I stated above. We will all be playing 300 point lists and facing another team on a one to one basis. When pairings are done it is done team vs team. The team then decides who faces who in the match ups. Tournament points, Objective points and victory points are then all added together for the team in each round. The first round pairings are random and then they become swiss with the pairing based on the total team score. There is a team LT who rolls for the team in determining the order of pairings. So if you win the LT roll you get to decide the first pairing. then your opponent chooses. This makes it so you could possibly engineer some ideal pairings to get the wins you need.

George, Matt and myself will be making up the team. This means Ariadna, Yu Jing and what I decide to take. Much like my dilemma with Iowa I am trying to decide which army I want to bring. My default is PanO. This is most likely as I want to bring a painted army. There is no painting requirement, but I still like to bring a completely painted army. Missions have not been announced yet due to season 11 not officially landing yet, so I have not gotten into list building at all. I am really tempted to take my combined army. I recently got my Avatar painted, so I like putting him out on the table.

I always have trouble building a good list centered around the Avatar though. My comfort zone is Bolts. Lots and lots of Bolts. This means less to paint. I tend to do PanO purely because I don't have to paint anything. This suites my laziness when it comes to painting anymore. I may not have enough Bolts though. Since the update to NeoTerra I have been running a lot more. Usually a 5 man core fireteam, a Haris team and a couple more just in case I need to replenish the teams. I am tempted by combined army, but inevitably I am going to run PanO. Is PanO a mistake? Only my tournament record will tell. It usually is, but hey you run what you like to run.

So if you are attending Dragon Fall come say hi and lets have a drink. If you are not attending Dragon Fall for he Midwest Massacre, then you need to. It will be a good time. Next time I am hoping to put my thoughts together about being a bi polar gamer and the challenges I face when it comes to gaming and life in general. It may be a boring read, but I am hoping it adds some perspective and maybe enhances somebodies knowledge.
So I have been playing and painting as of late. I have not really started on project Francis as of yet. I am waiting on the painting competition rules and such from Adepticon before I start. With the Golden Demon replacing the Crystal Brush I may have to paint up a GW model. So I have been working on some stuff I may take to the Iowa Incident. Its tentative me going as of right now as I am not working. Its hard holding a job down being Bi polar. I plan on talking about that next time I write. I think it may shed some light on things about me as a person or somebody in your gaming group. It may be helpful. I digress though. The Iowa Incident MK6 it taking place later in October. I am deciding if I want to take Onyx Contact Force, NCA or Vanilla Combined. Its hard to decide...

Last year I took NCA and went 3-1-1. I think it had a lot to do with me deciding to play them at the last minute. The changes in army have me thinking new strategies now though. some very nice ones that I think nobody has fully explored yet. Mainly the amount of Bolts you can get into a list and the fact you can run 2 fire teams of them. You have some more options in terms of profiles now too. A chain of command option as well as the killer hacker are nice additions to the tool box. The points reductions also help. The new engineer profile also appeals to me. It gives me a specialist that I can tie into a rather hardy delivery system to push buttons. Being able to run a core fire team of ORC troopers is also appealing. I don't know if anybody noticed that. They are AVA 5 too so it can be a pure fire team.
I think my favorite change though is the FTO Aquila Guard. Being a wild card, I can throw him anywhere. Bolt team, ORC team, Fusilier team. Its all good. I have a lot of things I can do now with the update. NCA is also my favorite army so its at the forefront of my choices.

Onyx I have been having a hard time with, but I have been painting Combined Army stuff so I have been considering them. I played them the first year I went to Iowa and did not do so well. Granted they were new and I didn't really have a grasp on them yet. In fact I don't think I have an adequate grasp on them even now. I need to address my list building. I hardly ever use the infiltrating units and my ranged game is never good. I try to pack to many toys and fall for certain fire team traps. For instance, I love the Umbra and Xenodron Haris team. I seem to always to forget to have good ranged support for them. The trouble is squeezing stuff into the lists and having 10 orders. If I include the toys I really want it doesn't leave room for anything except unidrons. Including a TAG in Onyx requires a lot of thought. They are an elite force and I think I am playing them wrong. My play style has been shaped by PanO. I can't play onyx the same way and thus my struggle.

Vanilla Combined Army I have a decent record with. I feel better not dealing with Fire Teams. I do have one habit though. I tend to play the Avatar a lot. Granted I do build the list around the Avatar, That is the list is geared completely to supporting him. Ranged covering fire, plenty of Engineers to keep him up and running, and killer hackers to prevent enemy hackers from impeding him. I do love the Charonatid as well as the Anthematic. These tend to go into my 2nd lists. I am a slow painter that lacks motivation, but I like to play painted armies. I may have to overcome this to play what works the best for the list. I will paint, but I won't hurry. I tend to have less motivation to paint if I am in a hurry or under a deadline.

I think the painting thing effects what I bring to tournaments. I want a painted army, so I make a list that uses my painted models even if it isn't the most tactically sound. This often results in NCA hitting the table. I think I am going to explore Vanilla Combined Army more and make them the forerunner. More games to get a feel for them. It gives me an excuse to paint some units I use a lot in my lists as well. Can you believe Dr. worm is not painted, but his nurse worm is? This needs to change. So for now, the current choice is Vanilla Combined Army. Thanks for letting me think out loud

Until next time.....
The rumor mill has the crystal brush parting ways with Adepticon for 2020. Hopefully this means a new in house run painting competition that we mere mortals have a chance against the pro painters. In that spirit I am throwing my hat in next year. I have never entered a painting competition and I want to challenge myself this year. So I introduce Project Francis.

For those of you that don't know the character, this model is a 90mm version of the Aleph army character Ajax the great from the game Infinity. This model was done by Luxumbra and I will be working on it over the next few months to get it ready for whatever painting competition Adepticon adopts.

My hope is that the powers that be put together a painting competition that is in house that also has an amateur and pro level to it. This would mean the same dozen or so people would not be winning very year while the rest of us mere mortals slave away for what would seem for naught. I am finally dipping my foot in this whole competitive painting thing. I have never claimed to be a great painter. I decided that I wanted to challenge myself this year. I want to be a better painter. So I have taken on some commissions and I am trying to paint more. Painting more often means I get more practice. It also means I can try out new techniques and hone the ones I already know.

I am hoping this results in a competition level model, at least on an amateur level, that I can enter into the painting competition at Adepticon 2020. It is a personal goal. I don't even care if the model places. I just want to be a better painter and overcome the mental blocks that seem to foil me when I sit down to paint. I use to paint just for the love of doing it. Somewhere along the way it became a chore. I want to regain the fun. I want it to be a leisure activity that relaxes me and challenges my mind again.

To that end I take up this project and the school of thought of painting an hour a day. It was suggested by George, aka Spellduckwrong aka VigoTheButch, that I paint an hour a day. Sit down and work on a model or whatever I can get done in an hour. I don't like leaving things unfinished. In the past I have tended to go on a painting spree and paint until I am exhausted. This means big gaps in me actually getting things done. Painting only an hour a day leaves you hungry. You want to finish what you started or at least I do. This means you get in your hobby time and don't get burned out. It becomes a relaxing leisure activity. This is what it should have been in the first place.

I will be doing updates on Project Francis as it progresses. So look for updates in between the campaign stuff and whatever else I put up.

Until Next time..............

Greetings players! The blog is being re purposed to give players in the Evolution Games Infinity League and Capital Area Infinity a place to get new information about the campaign and Infinity in the Lansing and surrounding areas.

Starting Sunday May 19th the Daedalus Fall Campaign will be starting. I plan on everybody meeting up so new players can get an introduction to Infinity and all players can get the low down on how the campaign system will work.

We will be starting at 150 points. Full rules will be used. Each player will start with a 2 point Spec Ops Unit. This unit will be included in every list. The rules for Spec ops can be found in the Daedalus Falls book. I have a copy and can go over them with you. The spec ops building is also included in Army 6. The points escalation will go as follows

Week 1 150 pts
Week 2 200 pts
Week 3 200 pts
Week 4 250 pts
Week 5 250 pts
Week 6 300 pts
Week 7 300 pts
Week 8 400 pts

This will give players an opportunity to play at many different levels so they can get familiar with their army and the different challenges you face at different point levels.

Sign up will be up at the store in the next couple days. Look for it on the bulletin board by the War game table at Evolution Games.

Until next time......
Hello all. After a long hiatus we have returned. This year we will focus on Infinity, Mantic games and some other small war games. I will also have information about the Lasing groups upcoming Infinity Event. Mitten Mayhem! A 32 person 5 round Infinity ITS event. Lets look at the details of the midwest's latest Infinity Tournament.

First a little blurb from the event site.

Michigan joins the fray with Mitten Mayhem, A 5 round 300 point Dire States Infinity ITS event. 2 days of Infinity in Lansing Michigan

Our cap is 32 players with room to expand if there is demand.
Evolution Games plays host to the newest tournament in the midwest meta.

Lord Bostria's cup will be up for grabs!

Food, drinks, community and INfinity. Everything that makes a Dire States event!

join us September 14th and 15th 2019

Registration will be $40 and will start in June.

The group here in Lansing is very excited to be hosting this event. We have a great community here in Michigan and they are excited to be able to participate in a Dire States event close to home. This is a community event though. The hallmark of any Dire States event is building community. That means there will be social events in addition to two solid days of Infinity.

We will be having a meet and great at one of Lansings many local breweries. The current front runners are Lansing Brewing, Eagle Monk Brewery and Ellison Brewery. These three really encompass the local beer scene here in Lansing. Our Saturday night event is under discussion. We have so many cool spots. Axe throwing, a retro Barcade called "The Grid" Distilleries and of course Bars and pubs that serve all Michigan has to offer in the way of Micro brews.
Even though we are a little early in the planning of Mitten Mayhem things are shaping up to be a really good weekend for all.

Our host for the event is our biggest FLGS and home to Capital Infinity. Evolution Games on Lansing's west side. This store has a large and thriving game community and stocks Infinity. They are our first sponsor.

That is all for now. I will be posting more information here on the blog as it develops until we have the official website built and ready to roll.

Until next time remember always do it....
Greetings all! the adventures of Agent 13 continue with my 2nd Kurage Crisis Campaign Battle. I had to fix my last post as it would seemed I posted the wrong report in it. SO my apologies. IN fact if you read my first battle post, this one may seem familiar. I would go back and read the first post again it has been fixed. My second battle was against Haqqislam. It was a close game and resulted in my first campaign victory. Sadly we did not play in the Pan-Oc theater to help reinforce it. Good old PanO is struggling to defend its territory. We have our hands full. Lets join Agent 13 on site!
Father Orsen had already retrieved Sohns cube. A “Desert Chicken” remote had hit him with an HMG. Not the first time he had to be sleeved into a new body. Casualties were relatively light considering. The Haqqislam attack was well thought out and well coordinated. Peters had spotted and commed in that Tarik Mansuri was present, before he was gunned down. They had also found the body of the Tohaa merc attached for retrieval riddled with Spitfire rounds.

I will be posting at least 1 more battle report despite the campaign being over. My wedding was last weekend so I have been occupied the past couple weeks. I will also be starting with our series on event and Tournament organization. We will be starting with the pre stages of developing an event lead into marketing and promoting and then preregistration. We will be teaching classes at Adepticon once again in 2019. It is my hope we can expand on those classes with the blog posts.
Hello all. I wanted to post my first battle report for the Kuragi Crisis Campaign. It was a very rough game to say the least. I decided to go the narrative route rather than do a blow by blow account of the battle. I played George, AKA Spellduckwrong, and his U.S. Ariadna. I was using my NeoTerrans. We played in the Pan-OC Multibase, specifically the HAS area. This was a modified version of the Decapitation mission.

Agent 13 surveyed the perimeter camp. Ten bodies laid out before him in a row covered in sheets. The remains of Special Operations Team Heimdal. Agent 13 shook his head and cursed the Ariadnans under his breath.
“Boss, Father Orsen has recovered 4 cubes. Sgt. Masterson, LT Orin, Indigo Bipandra and 2nd Lt Mathers.” The Nisse, Corporal Bahir, gestured to The knight Hospitaller as he connected one of the cubes to a recall unit. “He is loading the Aquilas first. Looks like he had a the best vantage point. He was on sentry duty according to the roster”
“Piss poor job too” The second Nisse, Corporal Sohn, walked up his multi sniper rifle slung on his back. “I found a bunch of shells in some prime nest spots. Looks as if they were packing Tesium rounds”
“Do we know which Ariadna faction hit us?” Agent 13 examined the shells Corporal Sohn had found.
“Looks Like the U.S.” Corporal Sohn held up a damaged flak jacket that had been ditched. The logo of a Foxtrot Ranger on its breast.
Agent 13 walked at a brisk pace to Father Orsen. “Father tell me we recovered some intel”
“We have indeed Agent. The lord has granted us insight on this terrible incident.”
The Father activated the viewer on the recall machine. It was risky taking the machine out into the field, but Agent 13 needed answers.

The Screen lit up and they could see through the eyes of the Aquila Guard. The multispectral visor detected heat signatures. It looked like a team of 5 medium sized infantry was advancing while fire came in from 3 different sniper positions. A Missile launch from an unseen shooter, most likely a katazyusha could be seen in the distance. So the Ariadnans had struck first. Hard and fast as was the U.S.’s M.O. The last thing the Aquila had seen was a Muzzle flash from what looked like a Blackjack. The Tesium round had killed the Aquila. The Aquila had recorded a Bolt team taking fire and one going down also to the Black Jack. The Missile launcher armed Bolt was on the losing end of a fire fight with what Agent 13 could make out as a Marauder fire team. Casualties were mounting quickly.
“Load Up Bipandra’s Cube, we need to evac that one quickly for resurrection.”
The Father took a few minutes to carefully hook up the cube of Indigo BiPandra.
BiPandra was standing on the second level of a building in cover with Lt Anderson. The Fusilier was barking orders through his comm. The unit was pinned down. As BiPandra peered around a corner she saw the Aquila go down as well as an Auxila trying to maneuver his bot into heavy flamethrower range of the Marauder fire team. They were both taken out by sniper fire and fire from the fire team. BiPanras last image was of a Maverick hitting her with fire.
By the time they had viewed the cube from the Lt and the loan Bolt who was the last to go down it was clear it was over quick. The NeoTerran force had not been able to pin down or eliminate a single Ariadna soldier. The defeat was utter. There were no survivors.

Father Orson sighed. “It looks as if they had to leave in a hurry sir. The rest of the soldiers cubes have been shot out purposely”
Agent 13 looked towards the mountains. “The relief force was inbound as per the troop rotation, they couldn’t finish the job completely.” Agent 13 contemplated this for a moment. They had been watching.

“Lt, gather the team for evac. The Trauma Doc core is here to take care of the bodies. We have all the information we need. Its time to go hunting.”
“Yes Sir” Lt Frey saluted and walked of. Agent 13 spoke into his comm. “Agent 13 to Odin” The Odin was a specially outfitted atmosphere capable Frigate that was currently in orbit. It was Agent 13’s current base of operations.
“Odin Receiveing Agent 13”
“Send drop ship alpha for evac. Tell jones to prep Mjolnir for combat drop.”
“Yes sir, he has been itching to do an orbital insertion with that TAG for a week now, Odin out”

Agent 13 pondered the situation for a moment. It is time to hunt. The mission targeting Imperial Service units would have to take priority, but the Ariadnans had now made the list for elimination. The campaign was off to a rocky start….

This was a rough Game. George had total mid field and board control. I could not move anybody out from cover without their heads being blown off by overlapping sniper fire. In retrospect I did not make a good board side choice, and I did not set up potential ARO's on deployment. I was a turtle out of fear of the snipers. Going first on this mission is a big plus. George was able to neutralize my token ARO units easily because they were alone. Learning experience. Games with George usually are.
Hey all. It has been a while. I have neglected the blog mostly because I did not know what to write about. I have been wholly into Infinity and really have only been playing one other game, Aristeia. I have finally figured out what I am going to write about. I am going to write about event and tournament organization mostly. I teach two classes at Adepticon on the subject along with Neil and George. So I figure since I am limited on time in the class I can expand on the misc subjects we talk about in depth.

I will also be posting battle reports from the Kurage Crisis Infinity global campaign while it is going on. look for posts on Sundays from here on out. It won't be every Sunday, but I am shooting for twice a month. Once I figure out the video making program the YouTube channel will finally be up and running as well.

So forgive the hiatus again.

Look for a post Sunday

Until then...
Greetings all! Well we are only 5 days away from Adepticon 2018. The guys and I are just about ready to go. George and myself are finishing up all the painting we need to do for our events. The Fireteam Duo models are done and in the Battle Foam bag, as are the TAG Rumble models. I am down to the Aristeia team. I finished the Spartan sScenic table today. At least to an OK standard to use at Adepticon in the Infinity room. I have to say I am pretty excited. As I mentioned in my last entry this is the first time in 3 years I have been able to play. It will be nice being able to just teach a couple classes, run a small Infinity event and hang out with my Infinity family. There have been some recent developments as well....

The first major announcement is that I am getting married in July. My Fiance Christina and I have been together for almost 3 years and we are getting hitched in the gorgeous upper peninsula of Michigan. Marquette to be exact. The planning , coupled with getting stuff done for Adepticon has kept me pretty busy.

In other news I have stepped down as the co host of Exploding Dice Radio. I have pretty much distanced myself form the former Spartan Games community. I have not played in forever and I have not really been following Warcradles efforts. This is mostly because I was never a Dystopian Wars player and what they are doing to the background is not my cup of tea. I am looking forward to talking to them at Adepticon though. Mostly because I want to find out about Firestorm Armada. I still have my three favorite fleets and I am curious as to what they are doing to the game. I was deep in the community, but no longer. Things got to toxic and I think I need, as does the community, a fresh start.

Starting in April, I will be detailing the Infinity Campaign I am planning to run at Evolution Games here in Lansing. We will be doing a league of sorts using the Uprising kit that is now on pre order on the Corvus Belli website. I am using my current down time to do some planning and I am going to try and finish the more detailed map campaign I was working on. I figure this would be a good Summer event to run. The story I was working on actually ties in well with the new Dire Foes set that is inbound, Candy Cloud.

Well that is all for now. I will be doing some posting and picture uploads for some almost live Adepticon coverage. If I can manage it possibly some live streams and YouTube videos as well. I feel like I need to try and make an effort to do some more multi media stuff.

Until Adepticon.........

Now that January is over and I have caught up on everything, except my painting, going into February, It is time to get in the groove of posting on a regular schedule. I am shooting for every other Wednesday until I get up to speed.
Today I am going to be talking T.A.G's. Tactical Armored Gears, for those unfamiliar with Infinity or new to the game. T.A.G's are a dominating presence on the table and bring to bear some serious firepower on a very robust platform. I am playing in the T.A.G. Rumble event at Adepticon this year. The premiere event for those with a love of Mecha and fighting robots. As I contemplated a list, I had to analyze and breakdown what I might be facing on the table. This lead to some intensive research into the choices and abilities of each of my 3 factions T.A.G's. Lets take a look at the T.A.G. Rumble format and take a look at some T.A.G.'s

The T.A.G. Rumble format gives you 150 points to work with. You do not need a Lieutenant and SWC does not really matter as most T.A.G.'s cost 2 SWC or higher and you can take multiple T.A.G.'s. in this format. You are also allowed 1 Engineer and 1 Hacker. Although the are achievements during the game last person standing wins. Now the fun part. All the participants are at one table. This is not a 1 on 1 bracket tournament. This is a free for all. Players are placed at intervals around the game table and then are given an initiative number randomly. When your number comes up you have 3 orders to spend. This can be a rather stressful time for those who go later in the turn. If I have mucked up any of the rules please forgive me. This will be my first year playing in the event. Feel free to correct me.

I have three armies at my disposal. PanOceania, Aleph and Combined Army. PanO has seven T.A.G.'s in its stable right now and they cover the gambit in terms of abilities. Combined Army has the next most T.A.G. choices with five which like PanO have am mixed bag or abilities and mission roles. Aleph has one T.A.G. The Marut is expensive but brings a lot to the table. My first Instinct was to go with PanO. I had a lot of choices in terms of T.A.G's and Hackers. The one thing that steered me away from my beloved PanO though was I only have one engineer choice and he is not that great. I messed with a couple lists for the Marut, but could not fit a good hacker and a good engineer in the list with it. In fact I could't fit both in the list.

PanO was calling despite my crappy engineer. Obvious choices were the Squalo with HGL and the Jotum with its massive armor. My favorites though also were decent choices. The Uhlan and the Tikbalong ranked at the top of the list followed by the Cutter and Seraph. I messed with a lot of combos and I could not make anything I liked completely, mainly because of my lackluster engineer.

I then turned to the Combined Army. My new Avatar was my first choice, but big papa does not fit well in a list and had the same issues as the Marut. I do not own a Sphinx , but it was a contender thanks to its T.O. Camo. The Raicho was ok, but I do not like the model, which is why I also do not own one of those. I came down to the Xenodron and the Overdron. A pair of Xenodrons won me the Mechanized Combat Ace trophy at the Iowa Incident this past fall. I tried several combinations to make the bash brothers work, but I could not get a good engineer or hacker in with 2 of them. I then turned to the Overdron.

The price point on the Overdron is all over the place but that gave me some flexibility in using the T.A.G. I started messing with some list combinations. I decided I wanted firepower above all else so I opted for the HRMC or Hyper-Rapid Magnetic Cannon. I then looked at some different hacker options. I looked at several heavy infantry and camo capable hacker options. All of them were pretty good. I then thought about my firepower mandate. I needed a hacker that could really mess up T.A.G.'s with hacking and with its weaponry. I wanted to unleash an onslaught of death and destruction with all of my units. One of the best ways to neutralize a T.A.G. as a threat is to tie it up and keep it engaged in close combat. Now there are several T.A.G.'s that are good in close combat, that is they have a close combat weapon and a way above average close combat score. PanO has the Tikbalong, Seraph and Squalo. Both of Yu Jings T.A.Gs are beasts in close combat. The Tohaa Gorgos packs a mean punch as well. Most T.A.G.'s do have a decent CC score and a physic that makes even their fists high damage. This means most infantry live very dangerously when engaging them. I needed a unit with good weapons and Martial arts to even out the score. Martial arts or Protheion....

The Umbra Samaritan Assault Hacker was my next stop. He accompanied my Xenodrons in Iowa and reaped a hefty toll himself. This made him a target and a distraction. It also revealed one of his drawbacks. The Samaritan can be a bit squishy. They are great in close combat, especially since they have the Vorpal CCW. The Assault Hacker version comes with an upgraded EI hacking device that adds the "Goodnight" program to its list. This is a pretty good upgrade in a T.A.G. Rumble. This program can kill a remote presence T.A.G. in the unconscious state within the Samaritans hacking area. He can stay out of sight and off my opponents before their engineer can get them up and running again. The Assault Hacking device programs are also geared to take out T.A.G.'s, heavy infantry and remotes. So the Samaritan was my Hacker even if he can be a little bit of a glass cannon.

I have a few choices for an Engineer. Dr. Worm is usually the first one that pops into peoples heads. Doc Worm is a great choice, but did not fulfill my firepower mandate. I then looked to my other two choices. Shasvasti Caliban and Morat Kurgat Assault Engineers. I had 33 points left so I had quite a few profile options. The Caliban brought Inferior Infiltration and Limited Camouflage. They did not bring a lot of firepower though. I needed to kill T.A.G.'s as well as their support units. The Caliban is a little more robust than the Kurgat, but the Kurgat can bring an Autocannon to the table. He also can lay mines. He can dig into cover and a protected position all while a slave drone does the battlefield repairs. So with the Slave drone added we are at 148 points and a lot of killing power.

So with the team selected I turned to analyzing my possible threats. I am going to cover that next time as I have rambled on enough. I will also be talking about the Fireteam Duo team tournament and the Arestia! tournament as we lead up to Adepticon. Stay tuned!

Until next time....
Hello all. SeerK here after a long hiatus and a rather busy holiday season. Planning for 2018 has been in full swing. The gang will be heading out to Adepticon in March. I was hoping to be able to swing going to the Rumble on Route 66 in addition to going to Adepticon, but sadly its not in the budget. I have a wedding to save up for. That's right I am now engaged as of October. This has put a bit of a kibosh on my convention travels. I am attending Adepticon, Origins, Gencon, The Iowa Incident MK5, the Michigan GT and U-Conn Games Convention in 2018. Still a decent amount, but not as many as I want to go to. I would love to do some more Dire States Infinity events as well as some more conventions on the east coast, near the west coast and down south. These would namely be the NOVA Open, The Las Vegas Open and The aforementioned Rumble on Route 66. There are several big Infinity Tournaments on the list as well. SO I left you kind of hanging in regards to Spartan Games stuff and Adepticon......

I vented at the end of August and expressed my dismay about Spartan shuttering its doors. Since then Warcradle Studios and Wayland Games, their parent company, bought all the Spartan Intellectual Properties. They are moving forward with Dystopian World as the first release due out towards the end of the year. The are combing the background with their other game, Wild West Exodus. I have to say I am not a fan of this. I was not really all that invested in Dystopian Wars so I do not have real strong opinions on it. I just don't like the idea of it. It does make me nervous for Firestorm Armada, but we will see. I am waiting to see what they eventually do with the game before I make any judgments.
As I said before my long break I am concentrating on Infinity now. I may be dipping my foot in a few other games as well as time goes on. I planned on doing demos and picking up some new games at Adepticon this year, mainly because I will have the time. I am not running any Spartan events this year. George and Neil will be running a Battleship Bash as a send off for Firestorm Armada. Doug Ummel and Vinnie Gregory will be running a Narrative Halo Fleet Battles and a Narrative Halo Ground Command Event. "Spider" Mike Williams will be bringing Firestorm Planetfall back this year in the form of a tournament.

George Neil and I will be running two seminars this year. We will be introducing our Tournament Organization 101 and 102 class seminars. We wanted to pull the curtain back and share our experiences in organizing and running tournaments and events to help those who may be inclined to run an event, but does not know how to go about running it. We hope it is informative and helps people.

I will be mostly in the Infinity room this year. I will be posting about building my lists for the T.A.G Rumble, Infinity Team Tournament and The Arestia! tournament I am playing in. I will be Running the Hunger Games Infinity event Friday night as well.

George and I have a podcast concept on the drawing board right now. It will be Infinity based and cover all aspects of the game. Keep your eyes and ears open for the "Bad Umbra's" Podcast. I will also be continuing to cohost Exploding Dice Radio with Andy. I am going to make a concerted effort to get some content on the YouTube channel that I have not been using at all. Probably a bunch of tutorials, unboxings and the usual fair. As usual I have set some ambitious goals. I am going to stick to my plan this time though. It is a good thing for me to fight off the days I am feeling off.

That is all for now. It is good getting back in the swing of things. I was feeling really drained from all the drama surrounding Spartan. The Infinity community helped me overcome all of it and has reinvigorated me for gaming once again. Now my only real challenge is building the local community in Lansing and the surrounding areas.

Until next time.......
Hi Guys, Its been a while. I have not been posting because I have been pretty burned out. There has been a load of drama in the Spartan community and that has culminated with Spartan closing their doors on Friday August 25th. Its a mixed bag of emotions for me. I am sad to see the company I worked hard for go. I am at the same time relieved as a lot of things are now off my shoulders. I am going to continue to pay and love the games Spartan made. I am going to go on a bit of a rant though so if you don't want to read it stop here. I have some pent up thoughts and emotions and they need to come out before I can move on and focus my efforts on Infinity and Corvus Belli's new game Arestia. I am going to be posting here and there about my Infinity exploits so I will be around now after this Hiatus. Ok...time to vent.....

Updated 8/29/17

I did have a rant here. A lot of people may have read it. I calmed down and realized its not worth it. I am better than that. Spartan is gone and I am sure the community will live on in some form. I am not going to be a part of it. That chapter is done. I am moving on. Good luck to everybody

I am going to continue to play and focus my event efforts and such to Infinity. I worked for Corvus Belli at Gencon this time around. It was awesome and I love the closeness and positiveness of my Warcor brothers and sisters. It is a shining example of a gaming community.

With all this stuff surrounding Spartan, this is going to affect the events at Adepticon. I don't know how yet. I was going to recluse myself from running anything in 2018 due to my connection to Spartan. I was going to be an Admin and support the Vanguards who would be running the events. We will see what happens now in the coming weeks. I will be working in support of Corvus Belli and the Infinity events at Adepticon.

I will be around, trying to post a couple time a month. Content will be Infinity and Arestia based mostly. There may be some Spartan remnants in there at times. Time will tell.

until next time.......
There is the complete schedule For the events being run by myself and Larry at Origins this year. We are about a month out and registration is open. If you have never been to Origins it is a great convention to visit. It has the myriad of events and vendors that Gencon has, but it is more player focused and smaller so you don't have to fight the massive crowds like you do at Gencon.

So come on out and say hi or better yet Play!

Until next time crush the Alliance and as always...
Greetings all! SeerK here once again. It has been about a week and a half since I got home from Adepticon and I am finally feeling normal. I was exhausted for a couple days after, especially since I had to play catch up on several fronts. This would be why I am only posting about the convention now. This year was very fun but at the same time extremely exhausting. We had 6 events running this year and all of them went pretty smoothly. I am going to list off the winners and announce the winner of the one of a kind Cortana portrait done by Sarah Campbell who is one of the 3D modelers at Studio 343. Our Halo Event participants are all in running for this great piece of Halo memorabilia.
So lets dive into the winners and some reflections on Adepticon 2017.

I am seeking to get more help next year it the main lesson I have learned. I was basically chained to the table in the Spartan Games area until Friday when my co Organizers helped run the Narrative event and run the Shcaumburg Prime Offensive. I need to learn to delegate more. I also think we need to tighten up the schedule for next year. That is double up on events so we have a free day next year. There was little to no overlap of players between the game systems.

One of the other things we discussed is going back to a one day format for the North American Firestorm Armada Championships. The two day format was fun, but I think it turned some potential players off. I also want to make it so the FSA championships do not conflict with the Warhammer 40K team tournament. I know we had players who opted for the Team tourney over FSA this year. We have also discussed going down to 3 rounds so we can keep the event contained to a solid day that also allows people to have their night free.

Dystopian Wars Participants

That is the real key for me next year at least. Keeping events contained to the day so nights are free. The team and I are already discussing doing a major upgrade to tables, Terrain and presence next year. This includes an official Spartan Games presence in the form of a booth with some staffers from HQ to run demos for eager players. Our Halo Vanguards stepped up and ran demos all weekend. Sadly we did not have the staff to run demos for the other systems. All in all I think this years events were successful and we learned some valuable lessons for next year.

The swag bags for this year were pretty nice and I am lamenting not doing the VIG upgrade. It was very legit this year. There were also more Vendors. In fact there were more events and if my information is correct they met last years attendance numbers in preregistration alone. Very Impressive. Although I do lament not being able to hang out with my Infinity cohorts I did get to see them. I was unable to play in the 200 point tournament as well. Stupid responsibilities. I guess it is more incentive to get things running smoother and delegating things.

Well lets talk about our event winners. We had some pretty fierce competition this year, but despite the shark tank everybody had a ton of fun. The big news is that the North American Firestorm Armada Champion retained his title by winning a scorcher of a game. So here are the winners!
The lucky winner of The Cortana Portrait after a random draw is Ian Browningsmith! I will be trying to contact you. If you read this shoot me a message at the blog email which is listed to the right.

Well there are the winners. I will be getting the Amry lists together once I get the stack from Dreadbeard. I may have to do that as a downloadable file as it is a bunch of army lists even if I only list the top 3 places of each event. All In all it was a good year and we learned some valuable lessons. There will be improvements next year and new editions of the games. 2018 will be a very interesting year.

Next time I finally start talking Game Design. We are going in deep with play testing starting this week. As the Beta group member return their NDA's they will be added. We are still getting all the reporting and what not in place, but things are progressing very well and we have our action plan in place after our 3 hour conference call today. I am going to be doing a lot of play testing. So Infinity talk and games will be my escape and palette cleanser.

Until next time crush the Alliance and as always.....
Greetings all. I am in the trenches running the Spartan Games events at Adepticon. The Halo Fleet Battles tournament is in the books as is The Schaumburg Clash! Dystopian Wars North American Championships. The Russians took top honors in the Clash. Congrats to Bob Schroeder on his win and claiming the title of North American Champion. The Covenant dominated the Halo Fleet Battles tournament. Andrew Karolus was crowned champion in the Fall of Reach.

We also premiered several new models at the convention. STL Traders, Pathogen, OSO Corsairs will all have models very very soon. The first Leviathan slipped its moorings to join the battle as well. The Relthoza have been up to no good! The Flashpoint Amber Campaign also kicked off today. Check out the Firestorm Armada section of the Spartan Community forum for details. Now for the picture dump!
