Hello all. SeerK here after a long hiatus and a rather busy holiday season. Planning for 2018 has been in full swing. The gang will be heading out to Adepticon in March. I was hoping to be able to swing going to the Rumble on Route 66 in addition to going to Adepticon, but sadly its not in the budget. I have a wedding to save up for. That's right I am now engaged as of October. This has put a bit of a kibosh on my convention travels. I am attending Adepticon, Origins, Gencon, The Iowa Incident MK5, the Michigan GT and U-Conn Games Convention in 2018. Still a decent amount, but not as many as I want to go to. I would love to do some more Dire States Infinity events as well as some more conventions on the east coast, near the west coast and down south. These would namely be the NOVA Open, The Las Vegas Open and The aforementioned Rumble on Route 66. There are several big Infinity Tournaments on the list as well. SO I left you kind of hanging in regards to Spartan Games stuff and Adepticon......
I vented at the end of August and expressed my dismay about Spartan shuttering its doors. Since then Warcradle Studios and Wayland Games, their parent company, bought all the Spartan Intellectual Properties. They are moving forward with Dystopian World as the first release due out towards the end of the year. The are combing the background with their other game, Wild West Exodus. I have to say I am not a fan of this. I was not really all that invested in Dystopian Wars so I do not have real strong opinions on it. I just don't like the idea of it. It does make me nervous for Firestorm Armada, but we will see. I am waiting to see what they eventually do with the game before I make any judgments.
As I said before my long break I am concentrating on Infinity now. I may be dipping my foot in a few other games as well as time goes on. I planned on doing demos and picking up some new games at Adepticon this year, mainly because I will have the time. I am not running any Spartan events this year. George and Neil will be running a Battleship Bash as a send off for Firestorm Armada. Doug Ummel and Vinnie Gregory will be running a Narrative Halo Fleet Battles and a Narrative Halo Ground Command Event. "Spider" Mike Williams will be bringing Firestorm Planetfall back this year in the form of a tournament.
George Neil and I will be running two seminars this year. We will be introducing our Tournament Organization 101 and 102 class seminars. We wanted to pull the curtain back and share our experiences in organizing and running tournaments and events to help those who may be inclined to run an event, but does not know how to go about running it. We hope it is informative and helps people.
I will be mostly in the Infinity room this year. I will be posting about building my lists for the T.A.G Rumble, Infinity Team Tournament and The Arestia! tournament I am playing in. I will be Running the Hunger Games Infinity event Friday night as well.
George and I have a podcast concept on the drawing board right now. It will be Infinity based and cover all aspects of the game. Keep your eyes and ears open for the "Bad Umbra's" Podcast. I will also be continuing to cohost Exploding Dice Radio with Andy. I am going to make a concerted effort to get some content on the YouTube channel that I have not been using at all. Probably a bunch of tutorials, unboxings and the usual fair. As usual I have set some ambitious goals. I am going to stick to my plan this time though. It is a good thing for me to fight off the days I am feeling off.
That is all for now. It is good getting back in the swing of things. I was feeling really drained from all the drama surrounding Spartan. The Infinity community helped me overcome all of it and has reinvigorated me for gaming once again. Now my only real challenge is building the local community in Lansing and the surrounding areas.
Until next time.......
Remember Dramos! Remember Spartan!
