When Spam Attacks! Fritz40k, Faeit212, and BoLS??

Looks like some of the heavyweight 40k blogs may be under siege by spam attacks. Fritz40k reported being drowned in Chinese spam posts, but seems to be holding down the fort.

Faeit 212 and BoLs are currently down. Probably others too that I haven't noticed yet. These may or may not be related to what Fritz is battling.

Anyone spotted any other blogs that are unexpectedly down?

Hang in there guys, and good luck.

Looks like GW is responsible for the two that are down

    1. Good eye, steinerp. It would appear that Apocalypse40k got the same letter but hasn't been taken down yet. Interesting.

  2. It's the price people pay when they want to do the things they do. I am amused by the folks already calling for boycotts. I do hope their blogs come back around though.

    1. I'm pretty much numb to the Internet hordes' constant call for boycotts. It is kinda amusing, though it is also draining.

  3. Yeah this is why I do a minimal of rumor mongering. GW, rather than giving us tastes and peeks as well as having an actual good monthly publication decides to crack down on the internet and piss its fans off.

I am surprised people are surprised by this lol. I think the revamp and overhaul of WD didnt have the desired effect and GW is continuing to have its policy of guarding it IP to the extreme.

    1. As well you should. It's not worth the hassle when stuff like this happens.
I tend to side with IP rights holders in this kind of thing. It's their right to protect themselves, though it does rattle the cages of the fans. I don't think anyone wins at this game.

  4. I think the real issue is a lack of communication between GW and their fan base. GW is kind of on a cloud and doesnt really give the fans any tidbits anymore. So fians try to get leaked stuff. This is what the real issue is. Leaked pictures of codexes and such is IP infringement so GW tightens the security.

White Dwarf needs to stop being the "infomercial" it has become so to speak. The recent revamp they did was a step in the right direction. They need to look at how they did things in the past and move forward. chapter approved rules, good battle reports with point values and good army structure. Good how to hobby articles. Its has gotten better, but not quite there yet.

even if they did a 3 month or quarterly release schedule it would be nice. it would wet the whistle of fans so to speak. build hype for the hobby.

    1. I think there is an inherent problem with the magazine itself. Content not withstanding, it only comes out once a month. Internet users are accustomed to updates, discussion and content that is much more frequent. This is where the blogs come in because every day there is new content on the bigger ones. GW is incapable of doing this with White Dwarf. GW's White Dwarf Daily on their site kinda helps, but there really isn't any content on there that will satisfy the inquiring minds of the fans.
