Daedalus Fall Store Campaign!

Greetings players!  The blog is being re purposed to give players in the Evolution Games Infinity League and Capital Area Infinity a place to get new information about the campaign and Infinity in the Lansing and surrounding areas.

Starting Sunday May 19th the Daedalus Fall Campaign will be starting.  I plan on everybody meeting up so new players can get an introduction to Infinity and all players can get the low down on how the campaign system will work.

We will be starting at 150 points.  Full rules will be used.  Each player will start with a 2 point Spec Ops Unit.  This unit will be included in every list.  The rules for Spec ops can be found in the Daedalus Falls book.  I have a copy and can go over them with you.  The spec ops building is also included in Army 6.  The points escalation will go as follows

Week 1 150 pts
Week 2  200 pts
Week 3  200 pts
Week 4  250 pts
Week 5  250 pts
Week 6  300 pts
Week 7  300 pts
Week 8  400 pts

This will give players an opportunity to play at many different levels so they can get familiar with their army and the different challenges you face at different point levels.

Sign up will be up at the store in the next couple days.  Look for it on the bulletin board by the War game table at Evolution Games.

Until next time......

A small Price to Pay For The Smiting of Ones Enemies: Store Campaign

So we had the latest game in our campaign series at good old Evolution Games this past week. It was a 1500 point pitched battle where I had to defend an objective from being destroyed. I squared off once again with the judge who also had an objective I had to take for bonus points. I had played this same scenario the previous day against one of the regular players who has just recently switched to Eldar. The battle did not go well for him as the Archon and his Kabal unleashed the full fury on their craftworld cousins. The Archon left the privilege of Eldrad Ulthrans death to Drazzar the Master of Blades. Needless to say he made some mistakes and needs to work on his basics.
Th Judge brought the heat in the form of Chaplin Stonewall leading a squad of thunder hammer wielding terminators in a land raider crusader, Captain Lysander leading a Stern guard squad in a drop pod, a maxed out squad of scouts with sniper rifles, Sgt Bad ass and his sunshine kids, scout squad, in a Land speeder storm and of course Venerable brother Overkill.

Things started out ok. I had two warrior squads and the Archons squad sweep up with the two Ravagers swooping in on the right flank. The Talos moved up in between. There were no real casualties as The Judges weapons were not hot yet. Turn two saw the arrival of Lysander and his Stern Guard veterans lit up the Talos with inferno rounds. The Talos lost 2 wounds. The Archon and warriors advanced while the third warrior squad acting as rear guard swung around to fire on Lysander and the Stern guard. The Ravagers unleashed disintegrator fire killing all but 2 Stern Guard and Lysander. The second Ravager lit up Brother Overkill and Chaplin Stonewall and his terminators advanced and disembarked form the Land Raider. They then charged the two raiders before them destroying one. He Talos had died in the previous turn to Lysander but not before killing the remaining Stern Guard. The scouts fired on anything and everything they could. Brother Overkill destroyed the Archons Raider and forced him to move by foot to engage Chaplin Stonewall. Basically turn three I knew I was going to loose as Lysander smacked my objective with his Thunder Hammer and the ran off chuckling to himself. SO with the objective lost I just went for blood and vengeance. The warriors remaining after the destruction of their transports opened up with a fusillade of splinter fire and killed 3 terminators. The Ravagers poured fire into Brother Overkill but the wiley venerable dreadnought would not die. In fact he basically could not shoot for two turns and that was about it. As the Archon face palmed the ineptitude of his warriors, Chaplin Stonewall did what he does best, tactical retreat. The Archon then saw a way to vent his frustration. Captain Lysander came into view on a hill. Drazzar and 4 Incubi charged the infamous Imperial Fist captain and with a sweep of his Punisher now alive with power cut down the captain with unrestrained fury. Sgt Bad ass overcome with the death of his captain charged the Archon. He seemed to forget he did not have an invulnerably save. He and his scouts were dealt with like the flies that they were. One Nemesis down two to go. Chaplin Stonewall had redeployed a small distance away to deal with the ravagers. The scouts had managed to snipe one and the thunder hammers of Stonewalls terminators did in the other. By a miracle the Archons consolidation move from the previous round and his normal movement put him in range to charge the Chaplin. It did not look like it by eye and we measured it three times. Finally the Chaplin who mocked the Archon and stole victory away from him was right in front of him. The two squads clashed and the remaining terminators were cut down. Stonewall was saved by his rosarius but was cut down. The Archon roared in triumph as he pulled his Punisher from the broken form of Chaplin Stonewall. Two down one to go.
Sadly this is when I realized the Archon, Drazzar and two Incubi were all that was left of my army. I guess the killing frenzy kind of blinded me for a second. The Archons Shadow field finally gave out at this point to and he succumbed to sniper fire as did the Incubi. So Brother Overkill survived and he held true to his name and blasted Drazzar with a lascannon. I got tabled in turn 7. I did kill two out of three of the Archons nemesis though.
The next Game is a 4000 point per side Apocalypse battle. The Archon has recruited 2 Chaos war bands and has made a pact with the powers of chaos the send their warp spawned kin to the battle field. The Dark Mechanicus will be supplying a Titan blessed by Khorne to wipe the Archons enemies from existence. Most anyways. There must be some left alive for the arenas and ministrations of the haemonculi back in Commorragh.

Next time more battle reports and the next installment of the Phoenix Court of Khaine series.

Until then......

Run Archon Run: Campaign Game 4

Well The Judge and I squared off in game 4 of our bi-weekly campaign on Wednesday.  This mission was 1500 points and basically all I had to do was run the hell off the board.  The Judge came loaded for bear with lots of attack bikes and land speeders.  Brother Overkill, Chaplin Stonewall and Sgt Badass and his sushine kids were all present to try and stop my Archon from doing what he does best.  Run Away.
Setup had be in the center 3rd of the table.  Exactly 24 inches from the edge I had to escape from.  If I had had first turn I would have had all my forces, except my two ravagers as heavies had to be kept in reserve, off the table turn two.  The Judge had first turn though and scored a kill on a Raider and forced another to stay put.  My turn one sees warriors form the downed Raider covering the escape of the three that did make it to the board edge and the Raider that could not move tried to down a land speeder.  The Judge dished out some melta love on the Raider That could not move in the previous turn and it exploded taking 3 warriors with it.  The Attack bikes finished them off in close combat.  My turn two saw the Archon and his retinue along with two Raider Squads escape, which gave me 4 "Kill Points".  The Raiders turned to fire after the squads disembarked as they dedicated transports did not count as kill points for the Judge.  The onslaught continued as Brother overkill and Chaplin Stonewall, with 5 terminators in a land raider, came in and squished the rear guard warrior squad left.  The Ravagers came out one at a time in turn 3 and 4 and were promptly downed by lascannon fire.  So with the two squads and two Ravagers down for The Judge we had a tie game.
I should have taken Reaver bikes instead of the Ravagers.  I could have had them on the table and escaped very quickly.  Plus if I had them in back the loss of one or two would be ok as long as the squad itself made it off the board.  Lesson Learned.

I was also disappointed by a blurb on BOLS about when we are going to see the Phantom Titan.  Apparently we are getting the Badab War in Imperial Armor 9 and 10 then Some Space Wolves and Imp Guard Versus Eldar in Imperial Armor 11.  Needless to say I want a bigger Titan.  Oh well Guess that means I can buy a second Revenant Titan, this time with Sonic Lances.  Maybe some Fighters.
Well next time perhaps some more tactics.  I know I need to do the next session of Rogue Trader as well.  So many topics so little time for me to write.

  Until Next time.......

Stop Dying You Cowards! Campaign Game 3

The third game of our campaign was yesterday. Once again I found myself up against The Judge. He narrowly defeated the forces of the Cabal of the Jade Dragon last time and once again he pulled victory out of the rear of his power armor.
The forces of the Cabal were on the defensive and this 1000pt match-up was heavy on the fast attack. This meant 2 squads of 5 Reaver Jet bikes and a squad of 3 Hellions. Even though I did not have to field and HQ I did. I had Archon Asurcanix with 8 of his Incubi. I also took a Warrior raider squad. The judge brought a 10 man vanguard veteran squad all with storm shields and power weapons. They had jump pack and Captain Shriek was leading them A scout squad and land speeder rounded out his list.
Turn one saw the Vanguard Veterans advance. The Archon and Incubi dismounted form their raider to meet them as the raider moved off and fired a volley of disintegrator fire into them. One of the Reaver squads was wiped out by the veterans and the hellions, warriors and second Reaver squad moved to hit the veterans on the flank.
The Archon and Incubi hammered on the Veterans and a few of the Incubi fell as well. The scouts came on and engaged the second Reaver squad. All was going well until The Archon, thinking of self preservation, ran from combat after the last Incubi was slain. The Mon-Keigh were slow though and did not catch him. The raiding party abandoned by their Archon did not phase them. The warriors cut down the scouts after they beat on the jet bikes and slew the last of them. The warriors then took out the land speeder. They also killed the remaining Vanguard veteran and inflicted 2 wounds on Shriek in a hail of splinter fire.
Sadly only Shriek and the scout sergeant survived. I was wiped out and even though it was a kill point game I could not have won as he only had 4 and I had 8. It was more of a moral victory to take every last one of the wretched Mon-keigh with me as the warriors died..
Things would have gone differently if the Archon had not run. Oh well There is always next time.  Maybe The Archon will be be over his concussion by then.  He is really starting to make me mad.  We owe paybacks to Chaplin Stonewall, Brother Overkill and now Sgt. Badass and the Sunshine kids.  Bright yellow scouts ugh.
Vengeance will be mine and it will be very slow and very creative.

Until then............

Raid Thwarted!: Campaign Scenario 2 Aftermath

Well the second mission went well....to begin with. The forces of the Cabal of the Jade Dragon landed on the first turn with the exception of one Raider squad. The Judges space marines took a very forward position. Two combat squads set up in cover with a rhino behind a hill and a rather brave scout squad setting up almost at point. The Raiders carrying the Wyches, Archon and warriors advanced supported by the Ravager and the Talos The marines took few casualties with one squad falling back. Unfortunately for the Judge it was the combat squad containing the plasma cannon. No reinforcements came to the Cabals rescue as they slaughtered the Marines in the middle of the table to the man with a minimal amount of casualties. The Marines however received back up as both dreadnoughts, Including venerable brother “Overkill” and a Vindicator hit the field of battle. The Talos fresh with the fallen marines went to attack the closest dreadnought, which appeared at the flank of the Cabal. The Ravager was decimated by that dreadnought while Brother Overkill rained death on a raider. The Archon, not completely over his concussion from the previous battle, leapt from his raider, The Skiff of Pain, with his retinue to finish the last of the marines while Brother Chaplin “Stonewall” and the second Vindicator came to the table. The Talos fell to a dreadnought which succumbed as well to the Talos's vicious claws. The Vindicator nearest the Cabal took out a Raider and the squad of warriors it held failed to return the favor. Brother Chaplin Stonewall began a retreat leading the remaining Wyches and the Archon and his retinue back towards the landing Zone of the Cabal. In her Zealousness to reach the prey the Succubus of the Wyches died in ecstasy as she overdosed on combat drugs. So in the end the marines managed to hold on.
The Judge put up one hell of s fight. I should have expected as much. In the end I had 6 kill points to his 7. Things started out great for me, but my dice failed me at some key moments. Being ballsy by having my Succubus take 3 combat drugs and being rewarded with triple 5's was not awesome.
So the Next Scenario is a fast attack heavy 1000 point affair. More on that later.
Saturday I will have session 2 of the Rogue Trader game up. Sadly I forgot my notes while I was in the writing mood.

So until then..............

Second Raid...... I hope its a raid anyway.

Well I have another campaign game on Wednesday and this time it will be a full army instead of a 200 point patrol and raiding party. Samsquatch Monster has posted the details of the Scenario on Dark Future games, but to sum it up for the lazy who don't want to click the link I have 1500 points to work with. I can take up to 2 Heavy choices and 1 fast. Attackers can have up to 2 HQ's, up to 4 elites and 1-6 troops. Defenders can have up to 2 elites, 1 HQ and 2-6 Troops choices.
This was not a hard build for me honestly. Dark Eldar armies are pretty easy to build and the core of the force is always going to be Warrior squads, or I should say Raider Squads. 10 man squads with a dark lance and blaster are the way to go. If you have spare points a nicely equipped sybarite is a welcome edition but not a real necessity. Then you equip their Raider with a dark lance or dizzy, maybe a Horrorfex, and night shields and it is good to go. I have 4 raider squads in the defending list. I want as much on the board as possible as anything that is not a troop choice starts in reserve for the defenders. This way if my opponent is unlucky to have a quarter or half of his forces end up in reserve I can overwhelm him with fire and then pick off the units coming in from reserve. One thing I did do which I have not done yet is I have a warrior squad on foot equipped with lots of heavy weapons. This was to give my force an anchor and retreat point. I can station them in cover and pick off the major threats to my transports. This is a kill point game so I have to play smart as I have a ton of kill points in the force, 12 to be exact. I have 2 Ravagers and my Archon that will be in reserve if I am defending.
My attack list is a bit more aggressive. It is basically the same as the defending list but the troops are better equipped and I eliminated 2 warriors squads in favor of a wych squad on a raider. It is a mobile force that is meant to do what Dark Eldar do best. Blitzkrieg in and destroy everything they are not planning on taking. I am going to be working on an Archon conversion this week as I have discovered the beauty of giving him a Tormentor helm and Punisher as well as a combat drug dispenser. Strength 5 with a power weapon in close combat anybody? With initiative 7? Yeah its pretty nice especially when combined with a 2+ invo save thanks to the shadow field.. But nothing is to good for the leader of the Cabal of the Jade Dragon.
Hows the name? It came to me this week as I was contemplating the paint scheme already on the models and how I was going to either finish them or tweak the paint a bit so it suited my vision a little more.

So we will see how Wednesday goes. I will post the results and after battle report this weekend. I am also working on a post for session 2 of my Rogue Trader game. I should have that this weekend as well.

Until then.........

Remember to pillage before you burn: the new Bi-Weekly Campaign at Evolution games

So the local shop, good old Evolution Games, Started a campaign this past week. I should say Samsquatch monster of DFG started it but it is at our FLGS. I thought this would be an awesome opportunity to really get into my newly acquired Dark Eldar army.
SO the first mission is called Raid on Kastorel-Novem and it involves either attacking or defending a fuel depot. The fuel depot consists of two tanks with an armor value of 12. They are both equipped with void shields to fend off the first penetrating hit done to them. There is also a laser defense line that, if crossed, will cause a dangerous terrain test and wound the model crossing on a roll of a 6 in addition to the possibility of taking a wound from the dangerous terrain test. All the models are treated as independent entities. I have 200 points to work with. I am allowed to make 3 guys “specialists”. This means I get to assign them a universal special rule such as tank hunters. If you drop below half strength you must make leadership tests with a minus one per turn which is cumulative. So first turn at minus one, second turn below half strength at a minus two
My choices are limited to 1 elite, up to 2 troops and 1 fast attack. So my list consists of

7 Dark Eldar warriors on a raider with Night shields and “tank hunter”
One warrior with a Dark Lance with “relentless”
Sybarite with tormentor helm, punisher, gruesome talisman and shadow field. Has “furious charge”

All in all I did well. Despite losing my temper because my opponent was a daemon player who had the changeling in his list I won. I was actually a defender despite the Dark Eldar codex stating that they are always the attacker in a scenario. So I won despite all my anger. I slayed the daemons and saved the fuel depot. There was a post scenario showdown for bonus points and the Daemon player did succeed. This showdown consisted of one phase. attackers choice, and you pitted one model against another to represent the attempted assassination of a top commander surveying the battle field post battle. In this case he choose shooting. He had a shooty army and did not want to take on my sybarite in hand to hand. Sadly my sybarite's shadow field did not protect him and he died giving the daemons a small amount of payback and robbed total victory from my grasp.

I have not seen the next scenario yet but I know its 1500 points. So I will be fielding a scaled back version of the 1850 and 1750 list. I just have to figure out what I am cutting out. 250 points is a lot in a Dark Eldar list.

I will post about my list later in the week when I get the rules for the next scenario. Also I will be delving into troops choices for the Eldar. After the HQ slots it is the next most important choice, to make your list legal and set up the foundation to build your list further.

Until Then...................
