Countdown to Michigan GT: 5 Days Remaining

I'm not counting the last hour or so of today, so we'll just count from tomorrow. 5 days left until the Michigan GT. This guy is pretty excited about attending. I love that there is a large tournament in my state now, so there's alot of positive mojo going towards it in the hopes it does well and returns bigger and better next year.
I am almost as ready as I am going to get for this. There are a few little paint touch ups that need to happen and I need to finish off my last proper Wave Serpent. Other than that, I just have to make up some of the mandatory objective markers.

Anyone have any neat/easy/cheap ideas for objective markers?

  1. For objective markers, I've used some old bases and put a single helmet on them. Cheap, uses up old bitz and no one ever complains.

    1. That indeed satisfies all three of my criteria. I'll keep that as a backup plan in case I decide to slide that way.

  2. That or extra space marine banners it seems like people always have lying around, or some of those basing bitz (you know the little statue things)from the dire avengers kits!

    1. I have a Blood Angel one I think for some reason, but not three.
Many people use that statue thing for that. I assume that's what they are for since the bit doesn't really fit on any of the Dire Avenger models.

  3. Bits on bases works for me too. I've made two with a lightning claw on some rocks, two with ammo crates from my thudds, one with spare vehicle bits and one with a data console. Quick and cheap! Looks fine too.

    1. Pile o' Bitz might be how this goes down. Had I not procrastinated, I might have come up with something grand.

  4. I used the horus looking little statue bit that comes with the war walker kit. I painted them white blue inked them and based them on 40mm basses. boom done.
